This project included a complete site redevelopment including demolition of the existing one-storey maintenance building to construct a new Roads and Parks Maintenance Facility for the City of Burlington.
Major components of the new building included cast-in-place concrete foundations and floors, double-wythe masonry walls, new sloped roofing, aluminum windows and overhead doors. The project also included a new asphalt parking area, concrete walkways and a playground area.
Established in 1970, Apeldoorn Park (previously named Elgin Park) was renamed in recognition of the official twinning with Apeldoorn, in the Netherlands The park has been redesigned to include a garden feature in the south-west side of the park and a raised garden planter that incorporates plant species and colours reflective of the Netherlands. A feature walkway and seating and junior playground with swing are also included in the park setting.
